A mutation rolls when the fish leaves the tunnel. It changes income or theft rules. The index still counts the base species once.
Standard rolls
| Mutation | Chance | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Unstealable | 7.5 percent | Other players cannot pick it up |
| Gold | 5 percent | Higher income, same purchase price |
| Void | 2.5 percent | Dark look. On ordinary flat fish it has been observed to double income |
| Magma | 0.5 percent | Added in Update 3.0. Higher income than a plain copy |
| Dead | 0.2 percent | Rarest standard roll. Skeletal or crimson look and the strongest standard income boost |
Weather modifiers
- Infernal, from red-sky portals: listed as 3.25x earnings. Portals also throw players across the map.
- Blizzard: listed as 2x earnings. Ice crystals can stun you.
- Blood: appears during Blood Moon.
- Aurora: tied to northern-lights weather and fish such as Aurora Whale.
- Rift: tied to purple storm weather. Noted on high-tier fish such as Seeker.
- Galaxy: tied to the galaxy sky event. A separate numeric multiplier was not published.
- Fishaween: an event painter, bought for 10,000 pumpkins, applies an orange modifier by hand.
Update 3.0 also described a 25 to 33 percent buff to ordinary base earnings when Deep fish, the second floor, and Magma arrived. That is a patch change, not a mutation you can roll today as a separate icon.
Spending a mutation on rebirth
The recipe accepts a mutated fish of the right species and deletes that fish. Check the name before you confirm. Vault a Dead or Unstealable copy and buy a plain one if the recipe only needs the species.
